The Edisto Edition

On this page veteran journalist and reporter Tom Mason has
arranged with the "Walterboro Press and Standard" for his material
about Edisto Beach and Edisto Island to be reprinted.

We are proud to be able to offer this service at the request of many
people who have complained that reliable, unbiased information
about Edisto is unavailable from other local media, and that the
media in the region pay little attention to Edisto.

Here there is an important distinction to be made between
"reporter" and "journalist." Mason has for decades been an
"advocacy journalist," while building a reputation for being
a fair, accurate and unbiased reporter.

On this page the ground rules are:

News stories reprinted here after publication in the "Walterboro
Press and Standard" will be clearly labeled "reprinted with
permission from the "Press and Standard".

Stories that do not carry that label will be either news or opinion
- clearly labeled as such. They will be subject to review by the
Edisto Island Preservation Alliance but do not necessarily
represent the views of EIPA, its Board, or founding organizations.

As a spokesman for the Edisto Fire Ants - an EIPA member
organization - Mason or any other member of the Edisto Fire Ants
has the right to voice opinions (subject to review prior to
publication) on the " Edisto Fire Ant page" which is linked
to the EIPA site,

In the case of items reprinted here they are copyright by the
"Walterboro Press and Standard" and Tom Mason. All others are
copyright by Tom Mason.

Periodically we will add new stories and delete older ones.
